This was The Culprits’ second party for Debbie & Ian, who took over the Duke lock, stock and several well stocked barrels to celebrate Debbie’s special birthday and once again the house moved.
We joined the diners to enjoy the Cracking food courtesy of Eric & Helen food and relax until curtain up (OK, there wasn’t really a curtain, but you get the picture).
The diners dined and the bar flies supped to our slightly more gentle early set songs but then the pace was upped!
The rockers came, bootees were shaken, requests flew and the raucous applause was proof positive of another great Culprits night!
Well well well. Another epic evening avec Les Culprits!
Gaining top billing over the Cumberland’s most excellent steaks (you really must try the Duke’s excellent fare!) we brought the house down again.

From then on though there was no chance of us taking it easy (although we did play the Eagles song of the same name) - dancing music was our orders and obey them we did! The slow stuff was all but banished and we played straight up epic rockin’ dancin’ stuff for nearly 4 hours, and without repeating a song!
The range of ages was catered and the music carried on into the wee small hours of the morning, when everyone wove their ways home, tired danced-out limbs matched by uplifted hearts and spirits!
OK, a touch over dramatic but it was awesome!
Thanks Debbie & Ian for letting us be part of it.
The Duke Of Cumberland, Barham (Saturday 29 March 2008)
A regular Saturday night. NO CHANCE . Not with The Culprits on the stage! Once again we entertained the diners (a bit too quietly we think!!) but as we notched the volume up and started cranking out the faves the night took off!
The Duke Of Cumberland, Barham (Saturday 31 May 2008)
The sign said “BOUND TO SELL OUT”. A reference to Eric & Helen’s excellent themed evenings and food and NOT to The Culprits!
We stay true to our roots of great music of any genre played with The Culprits unique style and verve - never too close to the original but never to far. And always catching the spirit of great pieces of music and bringing it to our audience., letting them enjoy, relive or just dance!
A special Hi to our new Antipodean friends who set us the challenge of some requests for when they returned for the Beer Festival (see below).
Barham Beer Festival (Friday 1 August 2008)
Ray’s Big 5-0 (Saturday 28 June 2008)
NO PICS But a great evening celebrating Ray’s musical past. The Culprits opened and eased the evening along very nicely. Then it was time for The Imitators to keep us dancing. Ray, Len, Chris and Jeff played their own excellent versions of classic tracks.
When Ray was reminded that he should be dancing with Jo, Chris moved onto bass and Neil stepped in on guitar to round off a great evening!
JUST CRAIG & NEIL ... but such is our ability to fill a room with song the music provided a perfect backdrop!
The Beer Fest was at The Duke of Cumberland and was another of their resounding successes!
So, back to our new Antipodean friends and their requests (see above) . We dedicated Roy Orbison’s “Crying” and, what is now a firm favourite in The Culprits repertoire Men as Work’s “Down Under”.
Heather & James Wedding (Saturday 2 August 2008)
Claire’s Special Birthday (Saturday 20 September 2008)
Ron & Chris Adieu, Canterbury Golf Club (Saturday 25 October 2008)
The Poles are getting all the good jobs!
As The Culprits rocked the house with strict orders not to play any slow ones the pole on the dance floor was an irresistible draw for the ladies!
The evening was one extreme to another. We welcomed the guests in with some gentle jazzy-blues-y music. But to close we improvised a flamenco frenzy as Jamie took to the floor with his Flamenco air guitar! Unique!.
Strange goings on with a Kangaroo!
NO PICs (possibly a bit too adult?). Only joking! It was inflatable (or does that make it worse?).
The Culprits were delighted to be asked to see off Ron & Chris on their return to Oz after a few years in the sunny UK.
A perfect mix of dancing and slow allowed a constant stream of dancers and the Men At Work Down Under song was an obvious highlight.
With Phil standing in on bass for the holidaying Ray The Culprits played our part in making Mike’s daughter Heather’s wedding to James. The beautiful location of Sole Street Housein Selling, Kent, with it’s tree house for the ceremony, made the day rather unique.
Craig & Neil provided background ambience for the afternoon and Phil joined for the evening. We were joined on stage by two backing singers and then James did an awesome vocal on Sultans of Swing.
The night partied through as Neil slipped away to catch an early flight to join family on holiday.
The CULPRITS’ Annual Charity Xmas Xtravaganza (Sunday 7 December 2008)
2 songs starring Ollie on bass!
Ray kindly stepped aside for Neil’s son Ollie to play his first pub gig. As well as his cool playing special donations made it all the more worthwhile as we grooved through Sunshine of Your Love (Cream) and Come Together (The Beatles).
Father and Son rocking together - NICE!
Blink and you’ll miss it!
By special request we brought The Culprits repertoire BANG up to date with a version of All The Small Things (Blink 182). Even teenage daughters had to acknowledge cool!
